Now that Tokyo is done and my marathon goal totally smashed it is time to fully focus on Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. The plan is to increase the bike mileage and intensity and build up the swimming whilst reducing the amount of running in comparison to recent weeks.
This is the third of my four weekly training updates on the road to Ironman UK & Wales. This one is going to be slightly different than most of my updates as I am running the Tokyo marathon right on the last day of this four week block.
My final day in Tokyo, well half day really with flying out at lunchtime. This is pretty much just a round up to finish off the trip.
This is the only day that really matters from this trip. Race day, the only reason I booked this trip. Most of the day is covered in my separate race recap post but you can read on to see what else happened today.
World marathon major number 5 and my 11th marathon distance run. Can I back up what I did in New York 4 months ago, could I run another PB.....
Here we are, the day before the marathon. Time to hydrate and carb load whilst taking it easy, but my coach plans in an interval session, damn it. I knew I should have made this the A race so I could have an easier week leading up to the marathon.
Day 3 on my travels includes my first run out here in Tokyo and then spending the rest of the day sightseeing around Tokyo inc Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Shibuya Crossing and Robot Restaurant.
