About Me

Hi, my name is Mark or as I am now more commonly know on social media…… The Cheshire Runner.

So who is this Cheshire Runner guy? Well as the name suggests, I live in south Cheshire with my wife, daughter and our Toy Poodle. Besides family life, one of my biggest passions is being active. Whether that be cycling or running I am outside most days doing something and keeping myself accountable via my Instagram and Twitter profiles. I began my running journey back on the 1st January 2016, another one of those New Year’s resolutions that fall by the wayside within a couple of weeks most people thought, however, this time was different. This time I was spurred on by two massive life changing events which occurred in 2015, the passing of my father and birth of my daughter. My main goal was to get fit so that I can keep up with my daughter as she finds her feet in this world, be able to run around with her without turning into a sweaty, out of breath mess. As I have progressed on this journey, my goal has changed after each step, firstly to get fit, then to run a 10K race, then half marathon, then marathon and finally (we hope I stop here) a full 140.6 Ironman.

During my first year of running I completed a 10K race, 10 mile race and four half marathons as well as cycling 250 miles through Death Valley National Park to raise funds for the cancer hospice who took such great care of my father. In 2017 I went on to finish my first marathon in Paris, this soon became 2,3,4 and 5 marathons as I found my feet with running. At the end of that year I was back in the states cycling 313 miles through the Arizona desert into Las Vegas.

Besides running I also have a strong passion for cycling and triathlon. In 2018 I will be taking the step from runner & cyclist to hopefully adding Ironman to that list. Although, as with everything I do, I am taking on two Ironman events in four weeks with a 70.3 and 140.6 Ironman. Expect to see monthly training updates in the first half of 2018.

Thank you for taking the time to read my page, I hope you enjoy having a look around my posts and my thoughts on running.
